West Ham could now miss out on the signing of RB Leipzig star Angelino if Chelsea land Marc Cucurella, with Brighton & Hove Albion now eyeing the Bundesliga defender as a replacement.

According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old is on Brighton’s radar as a potential signing should Chelsea complete a £50m deal to bring Cucurella to west London, though reports this week have suggested that West Ham are also interested in Angelino, who Leipzig will sell this summer.

The Bundesliga giants have recently completed the signing of David Raum from German rivals Hoffenheim, and as a result, Leipzig are now looking to offload Angelino, who could be set for a move to Brighton should Chelsea sign Cucurella in the coming days.

The former Getafe star had been chased by Manchester City for the majority of the window, however, the Premier League champions were unwilling to match Brighton’s £50m price tag for Cucurella, something Chelsea were willing to do, with a deal now reportedly close to being completed.

As a result, Brighton are moving to find a replacement before their Premier League season opener against Manchester United, with Angelino being viewed as an option, much to the dismay of West Ham, who this week have also been chasing the former PSV Eindhoven superstar.

Labelled as a ‘world-class’ talent by current Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, Angelino has been one of the best left-backs in the Bundesliga since joining Leipzig from City, yet for West Ham, they now stand to miss out on the defender with Brighton looking to sign the 25-year-old.

The Cucurella saga has devolved into something not many expected, with Chelsea, a club with a brilliant left-back in Ben Chilwell and solid backup options in Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, now close to shelling £50m on the Brighton star, with the Seagulls now, arguably, in line to replace the Spaniard with a better player in Angelino.

After all, the Leipzig star has been a regular for a UEFA Champions League side for the past two seasons, and with Angelino also just one year older than Cucurella, Brighton could potentially pull off one of the steals of the summer if they can bring in the rumoured West Ham target to replace the Chelsea-bound fullback.
