According to Football London, Oliver Skipp suffered a foot injury at Hotspur Way which caused some Tottenham players to look away.

What’s the story?

Well, Alasdair Gold claims that the 21-year-old was involved in a painful incident, which required a lot of stitches.

One Tottenham player – who is not named – accidentally placed their studs on the foot of Skipp, which caused what Gold describes as a nasty, deep cut.

Football London add that the injury is set to keep Skipp out of the Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday, as he waits for his foot to heal.

The foot injury must have been significant, as Gold states that some Tottenham players were left shaken up by it, with others unable to even look at the incident at Hotspur Way.

It comes after Antonio Conte expressed frustration with the medical staff at Tottenham, after Skipp returned from injury far later than expected last season.

At the time, the Italian said: “Oliver Skipp, it is a pity. In England, I think that sometimes you should have a conference with the medical department. It is too easy for the doctors to work here because they don’t speak, they don’t explain what happens, you understand?”

Now, Conte is set to be without Skipp once again.

Hopefully, the England Under-21 can recover from his painful foot injury quickly, and get back to action for Spurs.

Oliver Skipp has been unlucky at Tottenham

In our view, Skipp was one of few bright spots under Nuno Espirito Santo, but he hasn’t actually had the chance to kick on under Conte.

The Tottenham No.4 only got to make 14 appearances under the Italian last season as a pubis injury ended his season in February, and now, he has seemingly suffered a freak foot injury as well.

It hasn’t been Skipp’s year so far, but if he can remain injury free in the 2022/23 campaign, people will surely sit up and take notice of him, as he is an outstanding footballer.
