Last week, it was said that Crystal Palace are pushing hard to sign Brighton target Levi Colwill from Chelsea.

After pinching Marc Guéhi from the Blues last summer, the Eagles are keen to repeat the trick, although they will now be hugely frustrated with news coming from Brighton.

What’s the story?

Well, Chelsea are attempting to hijack Manchester City’s deal to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

The Citizens are currently refusing to meet Brighton’s £50m valuation of the Spaniard, which has encouraged Chelsea to get involved and hold talks with the Seagulls – with Colwill on offer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the England Under-21 international is to be offered as part of a player-plus-cash deal from Chelsea, in order to bump the total value of their bid closer to £50m.

Now, seeing as Crystal Palace have spent plenty of time pushing hard to sign Colwill, they will surely be furious to hear that their target could now be sent to play for their bitter rivals at the Amex Stadium.

Romano believes Chelsea and Cucurella have agreed personal terms, and now, the Blues just need to agree a fee with Brighton for the deal to progress.

According to the Evening Standard, Graham Potter is actually a big fan of Colwill, so in our view, it is highly likely that Brighton accept an offer in the region of £30m if the 19-year-old is included.

Brighton have a good chance of beating Crystal Palace to Levi Colwill

In our view, Colwill is very likely to join Brighton if he is included in a deal for Cucurella.

The teenager was born in Southampton, so if he joins the Seagulls, he would be moving closer to home on the south coast.

Under a manager in Potter who trusts young players, he would also find himself in the right environment to fulfil his potential.

Of course, Selhurst Park is also a good place for young prospects at the moment, but with Guéhi and Joachim Andersen at the back, Patrick Vieira may not have any space for Colwill to start immediately.

Keep an eye on this saga, as talks between Chelsea and Brighton will continue today.
