Jobi McAnuff has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer call to bring in Djed Spence this summer is ‘really exciting’, as he told Sky Sports News.
The former forward and EFL expert added that Spence is an ‘absolute revelation’ and he has no doubt that he has the qualities to produce the goods for Spurs.
Despite a number of deals being done in quick fashion by Tottenham this summer, the one to bring Spence to north London did take time.

In the end, the Champions League side paid Middlesbrough £20 million for the right wing-back (BBC Sport), who thrived in Nottingham Forest colours last season by helping them earn promotion to the Premier League.
Nonetheless, when McAnuff was asked to share his thoughts on Spence securing a move to Spurs in the Premier League, he issued the following response.
“This is a bit of a double-edged sword this one,” said McAnuff. “I think certainly, in terms of his attributes and does he have the capabilities to impress in the Premier League? Then, yes, there is no doubt about that.
“We saw during Nottingham Forest’s cup run last season against Arsenal and Leicester, he was outstanding. I feel he has the potential to do that. He is an absolute revelation. His energy, athleticism, skill and he’s so positive. He gets on the ball and makes things happen.
“I think that right-wing-back position for Spurs, certainly is up for grabs. Emerson Royal certainly wasn’t someone who set the world alight last season. I think, alongside Matt Doherty, Djed Spence would look at that as an opportunity and really go there and make an impact.
“Spurs don’t have a fantastic record when they do buy these youngsters and actually bring them through. You look at Sessegnon, he’s taken his time to get through. But I certainly feel he has the qualities to be a really exciting player in the Premier League.”

WHO STARTS AT RIGHT-WING-BACK – DOHERTY, SPENCE OR EMERSON ROYAL?
Ahead of the new Premier League season, Antonio Conte has three right-sided wing-backs to pick from – Matt Doherty, Spence and Emerson Royal.
Last season, it was mainly Emerson Royal who played that role, although he struggled for large parts, whilst Doherty’s form picked up big time towards the end of the season.
The Republic of Ireland international was used on the left side by Conte, but with Ryan Sessegnon fit and firing, added with Ivan Perisic’s arrival, then he’s probably not going to play that role.
Either way, something has to give because fans will question, who starts at right-wing-back against Southampton?
It wouldn’t be a surprise if one of Doherty or Royal leave this summer – there are suggestions that the latter doesn’t want to head for the exit door, despite interest from Italian giants, Juventus.
