Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has told GiveMeSport that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are still interested in signing Jack Harrison from Premier League rivals Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail reported on July 23 that Newcastle have been put off by Leeds’s asking price of £35 million for winger Harrison.

The report claimed that the Magpies are now eyeing a move for Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.

However, according to comments from Downie to GiveMeSport on July 31, Newcastle are still keen on the 25-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder and earns £60,000 per week as salary (SalarySport).

Newcastle remain interested in Leeds winger Jack Harrison

Downie told GiveMeSport on July 31: “I don’t think they’ll just bring in a striker or a winger for the sake of it.

“But the names that you mentioned, Barnes, Harrison and Gordon, they’re all players that the club are interested in. But I think that’s as far as it goes at the moment.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Newcastle United may not be able to sign Jack Harrison from Leeds United in the summer transfer window, especially as the season is about to start.

The English player is an important figure in the Leeds team, who have already sold another winger in Raphinha this summer.

The Whites will surely not want to sell another of their best players.

Although money talks in football, we do not think that Leeds will sell the 25-year-old unless they get a ridiculously tempting offer from Newcastle.
