Report: Club agree three-year, £48k-a-week deal with Arsenal player

CalcioMercato claim Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has agreed a three-year deal with Galatasaray worth £48,000 after tax – with the two clubs working hard to get a deal done. He could partner Tanguy Ndombele in midfield.

Torreira, 26, has spent the last two seasons out on loan from Arsenal at Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina. Entering the final year of his contract, Torreira has already stated he is desperate to leave the Gunners this summer.

With Fiorentina failing to sign him permanently and other links to the likes of Juventus not seemingly materialising, a move to Turkey is on the cards. The report claims Galatasaray are now on pole position to land the Uruguayan.

Gala approached Arsenal last week and now, personal terms are agreed. A deal worth £48,000 after tax for three years, with the option of another, is on the table. Arsenal and Galatasaray are also locked in talks to agree a transfer fee.

It means that Torreira could join a side that finished in a lowly 13th place in the SuperLig last season. But he may end up partnering Tottenham outcast Tanguy Ndombele in midfield, with Gala set to stage talks this week with Spurs.

What a signing Torreira would be for the Turkish club – especially, given they have failed to qualify for European football. Obviously, they are a huge club with domestic ambitions of a title win.

But for his first season at least, Torreira will not be in European action. However, with suitors likely to be drying up as we enter the final four weeks of the transfer window – Torreira may have to concede that Gala are his best option.

There is no doubt, that, with his career at a standstill, he will get back on track in Turkish football. Indeed, the drop off in quality is poor but the finances and support is still there. It depends if a fee can be met.
