Leeds United want Mergim Berisha and Fenerbahce are now desperate to sell due to a non-homegrown ‘crisis’ developing.
The Whites remain in the hunt for a new striker to bolster Jesse Marsch’s attacking options even with Patrick Bamford back fit and firing.
Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo have been top targets but neither look likely to join Leeds this summer.
That means Leeds have to look elsewhere and amid links to Che Adams, Marsch has allegedly targeted a striker he knows well.
Leeds United want Mergim Berisha
Recent rumours emerging from Turkey have heavily linked Leeds with a move for Fenerbahce hitman Mergim Berisha.
Yeni Safak report that Leeds proposed a deal worth around £1.75million for Berisha whereas Fenerbahce want £4.25million.
That’s not a huge gap to be bridged but it may be that Leeds only want Berisha if they miss out on higher-profile targets.
Marsch worked with Berisha at Red Bull Salzburg and coached the German striker to a superb 22-goal campaign during the 2020-21 season.

Having already signed Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson – three players Marsch has coached in the past – a link to Berisha does make some sense.
Yeni Asır now report that Fenerbahce are in a ‘big crisis’ because they have too many foreign players and need to offload some after signing Bruma, Joao Pedro, Josh King and Lincoln.
It’s stated that Fenerbahce are now desperate to offload some of their non-Turkish players to solve this problem – and Berisha is one of them.
Mbwana Samatta, Max Meyer, Mauricio Lemos, Steven Caulker, Marcel Tisserand and Filip Novak are all available to anybody who wants them.
It’s clear that the door is open for Leeds to go and sign Berisha – but whether he is really at the top of their wish list remains to be seen.
