Ian Wright has praised Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez on ITV (7:03pm, July 30, 2022) for his performance for Jurgen Klopp’s side against Manchester City on Saturday.
Liverpool got the better of Premier League rivals Manchester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium in the FA Community Shield.
Nunez, who joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window, did not start the match.
However, the 23-year-old striker came on as a substitute and made a massive impact.
The Uruguay international striker earned the penalty that Mohamed Salah successfully converted, and then scored the third goal for the Reds.

Ian Wright on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez
Arsenal legend Ian Wright was following the match for ITV, and the pundit was impressed by the display produced by Nunez.
Wright said about Nunez on ITV (7:03pm, July 30, 2022): “I am pleased for him because he came on and showed what he is about as a focal point. He looks very hungry.”
Encouraging display
In our view, Darwin Nunez played well for Liverpool against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.
The Uruguayan striker made some brilliant runs and was a handful for the City defenders.
Nunez worked hard on the ball and off it, and he gave Liverpool a focal point.
The striker’s confidence would have been enhanced after the goal that he scored.
Nunez could end up scoring 15 to 20 goals or even more for Liverpool in the Premier League this season.
The striker will play a big role in Liverpool’s quest to win the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup this campaign.
