The future of midfielder Lucas Torreira is proving quite problematic for Arsenal.
The Uruguay international has no future at the Gunners under Mikel Arteta and spent last season on loan at Fiorentina in Italy.
The season before that, Arsenal loaned him to Atletico Madrid.
A transfer to Spain this summer has been mooted in recent weeks, with Valencia agreeing personal terms according to AS.
However, there’s conflicting reports coming out of Italy.
According to Il Secolo, a return to Serie A is the Arsenal midfielder’s first priority.
Torreira joined the North Londoners from Sampdoria in 2018 for £27 million and the Italian publication adds that a return to that very club is possible, should they pay the Gunners’ asking price.
This is Arsenal’s last real chance to make some money on the South American, with his contract expiring next summer.
They’re set for a massive loss on their initial investment but even still, recouping some of that is possible with there clearly being a decent amount of interest in the player.
But the longer Arsenal go without agreeing a deal with another club, the more likely it is that he’ll be sold for peanuts at some point before the transfer window shuts.
