Kevin Campbell has backed Arsenal to sign Leroy Sane ahead of Cody Gakpo, as he thinks a deal could be done for the Bayern Munich star, as he told the Highbury Squad.

Both players are transfer targets of Arsenal this summer, with Campbell labelling Sane as ‘devastating’ and adding that Gakpo is a ‘good size’, if he joins the north London outfit.

Given that Gakpo plays for PSV Eindhoven, it would probably be a lot easier for the Gunners to secure a deal for the 23-year-old because Bayern would be a lot tougher on the negotiating table.

It has been suggested that Gakpo is ‘unsure’ about his future, with Mikel Arteta adding two attack-minded players to his squad this summer, but could more players arrive?

Well, Campbell wants Sane through the doors following five new signings this summer, with the former striker adding that it would be ‘really good business’ if they can sign the German star or Gakpo.

“If a deal could be done for Sane, then we will get Sane because Mikel Arteta has worked with him before and he knows how devastating he can be,” said Campbell.

“If not, then Gakpo is a good size as well, and then he will come in. And that would be some really good business.”

ARSENAL NEED TO CLEAR UP THEIR SQUAD

Whilst fans will feel that more faces need to be added before the window slams shut, there are certain players that need to leave.

From Hector Bellerin to Nicolas Pepe, these are back-up players that need to head for the exit door because they are no longer good enough for the first-team.

To put it simply, if the Gunners have an injury and players like Bellerin, Pepe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Pablo Mari, to name a few, need to come in.

Then would Arsenal fans be comfortable watching them play Premier League games, especially given that they missed out on Champions League football on the last day of the season?

The answer would probably be no, so if they could get off the wage bill, added with some transfer fees, then another big name could probably come in.
