According to Area Napoli, Crystal Palace have made contact with Napoli over a deal to sign West Ham target Hirving Lozano.

What’s the story?

Well, it was recently said that West Ham had entered talks with the Serie A side to discuss a move for the 26-year-old.

Now, the east Londoners have been joined by their London rivals Crystal Palace in this transfer battle.

Area Napoli believe the south Londoners have enquired about a permanent deal for the Mexico international, although Aurelio De Laurentiis – President of Napoli – is holding out for €30m (£25m).

However, nobody has expressed a willingness to offer beyond €20m (£17m) so far, according to the Italian news outlet.

The Italian side spent £36m on Lozano when signing him from PSV Eindhoven in 2019, a move which hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

Unfortunately, the Mexican has struggled to impose himself on Naples, scoring just 26 goals in 114 appearances.

Nevertheless, Lozano remains a hugely talented attacker, and it would be very interesting to see what he can do at Selhurst Park surrounded by the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard.

In 37 appearances last season, the winger scored six goals while also providing six assists.

Crystal Palace & West Ham face a challenge

In our view, Patrick Vieira and David Moyes will struggle to convince Lozano.

Why? Well, the Mexican has Champions League football in Naples, while he also recently rejected a move to Liverpool, as well as Arsenal.

If Jürgen Klopp can’t even convince Lozano to join him at Anfield, what hope do Vieira and Moyes have?

Perhaps next summer, when the forward will have just 12 months remaining on his contract, a move will be more likely.

However, this summer, we can’t see Lozano going anywhere – the Eagles and the Hammers may have to look elsewhere as they aim to bolster their attack.
