Yesterday, it was said that West Ham submitted a £13m bid for Eintracht Frankfurt technician Filip Kostic.

David Moyes launched the offer after missing out on Jesse Lingard to Nottingham Forest, and the Serbia international is open to leaving Germany to move to the Premier League.

West Ham’s interest in Kostic comes after he impressively scored seven goals and provided 15 assists from left wing-back last season, as Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League.

However, the 29-year-old’s phenomenal campaign was certainly not just an anomaly.

What’s the story?

Well, since August 2018, Kostic has actually managed to keep up with some of football’s best creators.

A graphic from Sky Sports shows that the Serbian has provided 44 league assists in that space of time, the same amount as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jadon Sancho.

Now, those two certainly aren’t bad company to be surrounded by.

Only Thomas Muller and Lionel Messi have been more creative than Kostic since August 2018, with 66 and 57 assists respectively.

That speaks volumes about the Eintracht Frankfurt No.10’s ability – clearly, he has gone under the radar across the past four years.

In our view, Kostic would immediately become one of the best players at the London Stadium if he was signed, and Moyes must do all he can to ensure that happens.

The Croatia-born maestro is able to operate on both the left and right of midfield, as well as in the centre of the pitch.

As aforesaid, he also shone as a left wing-back last season, so he is a highly capable utility player who can make an impact wherever he operates.

Over the course of a gruelling season, in which injuries often occur, a player like this would be invaluable to Moyes.

Make sure to keep an eye on Kostic, as Eintracht Frankfurt are yet to respond to West Ham’s bid.
