TalkSPORT claim Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour wants to reunite with Frank Lampard at Everton this summer – as the ex-Chelsea boss looks set to step up his interest in the Scotland international after a dismal pre-season display.

Everton suffered a woeful 4-0 loss to newly-formed MLS side Minnesota United during the early hours of Thursday morning. A shocking display, summed up by Dele Alli’s missed tap-in from all of two yards.

Lampard was not happy in his post-match interview and now it seems, he is ready to take action. The Toffees have only made one signing in James Tarkowski on a free transfer from Burnley this summer, with Financial Fairplay an issue.

But they are keen on a loan deal for Gilmour, who broke into the Chelsea side under Lampard – after joining the Blues from Rangers. Now, TalkSPORT report that £43k-a-week Gilmour himself is keen on reuniting with Lampard.

Gilmour wants to reunite with Lampard at Everton

He is just what Everton need. A bit of energy at the base of their midfield, a player that can get on the ball and dictate the tempo. He struggled at Norwich last season, but Everton will give him the stage at a club with more possession.

The Toffees do have midfield options in the likes of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes and others. But they have lost Donny van de Beek, Doucoure is more attacking and both Allan and Gomes have been linked with exits.

Signing Gilmour gives Everton a player Lampard knows well, a player that has that energy and desire to improve and impress. He just needs more game time and there is no reason why he would not get that at Goodison Park.
