Leeds United want Ben Brereton Diaz and have joined West Ham United in making moves for the Blackburn Rovers star in recent days.

The Whites have sold Raphinha to Barcelona but already have his replacement snapped up in Luis Sinisterra.

That means Leeds are instead looking to use their windfall on a new striker to compete with Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt up top.

Charles de Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo are the main two names being linked with that role for Leeds, but the Whites could look closer to home.

Leeds United want Ben Brereton Diaz

Reports from AS in Chile claim that no offers had arrived for Brereton Diaz last week despite plenty of interest.

Now though they suggest that English teams have made moves for Brereton Diaz ‘in recent days’ as they seek a deal.

The first team to ask about Brereton Diaz was Leeds, who made an enquiry straight after selling Raphinha to Barcelona.

Blackburn are sticking to a €15million (£12.75million) demand for Brereton Diaz and Leeds seemingly didn’t take it any further.

West Ham are the other team in the mix, with their interest being as a backup target to Armando Broja and Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers really want another striker to challenge Michail Antonio and Brereton Diaz is seen as a potential option.

Neither of those moves look particularly likely at this point though with Leeds and West Ham seemingly focusing elsewhere.

That’s hardly ideal for Brereton Diaz, who will be seeking a big move this summer but is having to play something of a waiting game.

Brereton Diaz hit 22 goals in 37 Championship outings last season in a superb campaign, sparking major interest from Premier League and European clubs.

The Chile international – branded an ‘extraordinary talent’ by ex-Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray – may have been expecting more concrete interest by now, but with Leeds and West Ham looking elsewhere, he will have to be patient.
