West Ham are chasing Amadou Onana and Lille are now considering their latest bid of £32.5million having already rejected two offers.

The Hammers have already shopped in France twice this summer, landing defender Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola from Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

David Moyes did then pounce for an EFL midfielder in Flynn Downes from Swansea City, but could now add another one, this time from Ligue 1.

Alex Kral’s disappointing loan spell is over, Mark Noble has retired and there are questions over Tomas Soucek’s long-term future in East London.

That may mean West Ham go for another midfielder and Onana has emerged as a top target.

The Hammers failed with a £20million bid for Onana and were then backing away to consider other options.

West Ham did though come back in with a £25million offer for Onana, which was again rejected.

The Daily Mail now claim that West Ham have come back in with an offer of £32.5million for Onana – and Lille are seriously considering accepting.

They suggest that West Ham boss David Moyes thought Onana would be out of reach for the Hammers given Lille’s reluctance to sell unless they receive a huge bid.

Yet West Ham now have new hope with Lille giving serious consideration to the £32.5million offer.

Lille don’t want to lose Onana but when you consider that they paid just £6million to sign him from Hamburg last summer, this would be serious profit.

Onana, 20, showed huge potential in Ligue 1 last season and would give West Ham a giant midfield presence at 6ft 5in tall.

Born in Senegal, Onana chose to play for Belgium and has already been capped at senior level under Roberto Martinez.

Onana could be an incredibly exciting addition for West Ham given that The Athletic claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are all keen too.

West Ham will hope for an answer within days with Moyes suddenly having real hope of luring Onana to the London Stadium.
