Rumoured Everton target Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly been offered to Serie A giants AC Milan as a potential signing just one day after it was announced that the Dutchman won’t travel to Japan for PSG’s pre-season tour.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former Liverpool star has been offered to the reigning Italian champions just 24 hours after PSG confirmed that Wijnaldum won’t be travelling to East Asia as part of the French giants’ pre-season plans, with Milan mulling it over on whether to sign the midfielder.
Wijnaldum only joined PSG last summer after his contract at Anfield came to an end, though the Ligue 1 side are already desperate to sell the former Newcastle United star, with new manager Christophe Galtier reportedly placing the midfielder on the transfer list last week.
As per reports, Everton are the current favourites to land Wijnaldum despite his strong links to their Merseyside rivals, with the 31-year-old winning Liverpool the 2019 UEFA Champions League and the 2020 Premier League titles, though that hasn’t stopped Frank Lampard from reportedly chasing the Dutchman.
Indeed, Wijnaldum would be an outstanding addition for Everton or Milan, however, the midfielder’s reported £180,000-a-week wages could be a big problem should either side look to make an honest attempt to sign the Rotterdam-born midfielder.
Moreover, Wijnaldum being offered to Milan is a surprising development given the type of players the Serie A champions have been signing over the past few years, with Paolo Maldini targeting younger names who are yet to hit their prime and the occasional veteran who can be a big influence in the dressing room.
Shock Milan signing could appeal to Wijnaldum more than Everton transfer

Wijnaldum’s time at PSG has been a disaster, to say the least, and whilst the Netherlands international doesn’t quite fit the profile of players Milan have been signing in recent years, there’s no denying that a move to Lombardy makes more sense than a return to Merseyside with Everton.
After all, the Toffees are Liverpool’s main city rivals, and very few players have crossed the divide between red and blue, and for Wijnaldum, his influence at Anfield would all-but tarnish his reputation if he is to join Lampard at Everton this summer ahead of signing for Milan.
