Real Betis has reportedly made an offer to sign long-term Arsenal target Houssem Aouar with a deal that includes cash and Portuguese international William Carvalho.
According to L’Equipie, the La Liga side are very interested in signing the Olympique Lyonnais star this summer, with Nabil Fekir already on Betis’ books and thriving in Spain, which could lure Aouar to Andalusia as the French club look to offload their star midfielder.
As per the report, Betis are confident that their ‘audacious offer’ will be enough to convince Lyon to sell Aouar, a player Arsenal and Edu Gaspar have famously been looking to sign for the good part of two years, with the Gunners yet to agree anything for the French international.
Indeed, despite all their efforts, Aouar now looks very likely to join Betis this summer, with the Spanish club coming off a Copa del Rey-winning season and qualifying yet again for Europe in the process, with Manuel Pellegrini building quite an exciting side since his arrival after being dismissed by West Ham.
Betis have always been a side who have been ambitious in their signings, with the aforementioned Fekir still one of the shock European moves of the last few years as the former Lyon captain and superstar rejected moves to huge European sides to sign for the Spanish minnows.
Indeed, there’s now a strong chance that Betis can sign Aouar after offering Lyon this incredible deal, with Carvalho still a top defensive midfielder and the fee likely to be enough to appease the Ligue 1 side, much to the dismay of Arsenal, who have been looking to sign the French star since 2020.
Betis signing Aouar would be a kick in the teeth for Arsenal

Arsenal looked destined to sign Aouar for the past two summers, but with rivals Betis now making a statement offer to land the Frenchman, it appears that Edu’s quest to bring the midfielder to north London has failed, and the move is a kick in the teeth for the Gunners.
After all, Arsenal have been chasing Aouar since 2020, a pursuit that has been stressful for supporters and at numerous points looked like it was. a done deal, and to lose out on Betis, of all sides, is a sting for the north London side given how much the club could do for the Lyon star in the coming years.
