Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised goalkeeper Matt Turner on the club’s official website after the match against Frank Lampard’s Everton at the M&T Bank Stadium.
Arteta was impressed by Turner’s performance in goal, as Arsenal beat Premier League rivals Everton 2-0 in the pre-season friendly match at the home of NFL side the Baltimore Ravens.
The 28-year-old USA international goalkeeper kept out Niels Nkounkou’s strike at the near post in the first half.
Turner officially moved to Arsenal from Major League Soccer club, the New England Revolution, in the summer of 2022 for £5.75 million (The Daily Mail).

Mikel Arteta on Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Turner: “I’m really happy with him.
“The way he has settled in, he’s an extraordinary character, a lot of personality and he’s great at what we want.
“Obviously, it was a big moment for him to come in an Arsenal shirt in the States and play in front of the crowd and he did well.”
Encouraging
Arsenal signed Matt Turner to be a back-up to Aaron Ramsdale, and it seems that he has already impressed manager Mikel Arteta.
Now, we know that Ramsdale is the number one goalkeeper at Arsenal, but the North London club do need an able deputy.
Turner played over 100 Major League Soccer matches for the New England Revolution and has turned out 18 times for the USA national football team.
Ramsdale is at the top of his game at the age of 28, and there is more to come from the American.
