According to Kicker, Newcastle United and West Ham are the two English clubs most interested in David Raum this summer.
The German left-back has been an absolute revelation in the Bundesliga over the past 12 months. He grabbed no fewer than 13 assists last season, and his performances over in Germany even saw him catch the eye of Liverpool.
Indeed, the Reds were linked with Raum earlier this summer as concerns were being raised over Kostas Tsimikas’ Anfield future, but with the Greek seemingly set to stay on Merseyside, those rumours have died down.
However, Raum still has plenty of interest from the Premier League with Newcastle and West Ham both keen on the player.
Unfortunately though, this won’t be a straightforward deal.
Indeed, according to Kicker, not only do Hoffenheim want €40m (£33m) for the full-back, there are issues with the interested clubs too.
Kicker state that Newcastle are having to keep an eye on their spending due to Financial Fair Play, while the player isn’t overly sold on a move to West Ham, with this report stating that the Hammers lack the necessary appeal to attract a player like Raum.
Luckily for Raum, he may well have a third option.
Borussia Dortmund are also being credited with a serious interest, and that may be a move that is more suited to Raum as he’s already well-established in the Bundesliga and Dortmund can, of course, offer the full-back Champions League football.
Raum is certainly a player to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
