The Evening Standard claim Real Sociedad are the latest club to show an interest in signing Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares. It comes after last summer, when the La Liga outfit tried to hijack Arsenal’s signing of the Portuguese ace.
Tavares, 22, endured a difficult first season at Arsenal. Playing 28 times in all competitions, he only started 17 times and the chances are he will be back-up to Kieran Tierney or Takehiro Tomiyasu next season, if he remains.
There is interest in the defender – a player Arsenal rate at an astronomical £34million. Such a fee is unlikely to be obtained, but a loan deal for the ex-Benfica defender is much more likely. Marseille and Atalanta are keeping tabs.

Now, the Evening Standard say Europa League side Sociedad are looking at a move. It comes after the Spanish club tried to throw a late spanner in the works for Tavares last summer, rejecting Sociedad in the process.
Sociedad show interest in Arsenal defender Tavares
Ultimately, Tavares is not good enough for Arsenal. There might be a future at The Emirates but the only way he is going to improve is by going out on loan. Arsenal certainly are not going to get £34million for his services.
A move to Sociedad would be ideal. That is, if the Spanish side do not get drawn alongside Arsenal in the same Europa League group. It would give Tavares plenty of game time, but at a club that are competing at a top level and in Europe.
That way, he would be fully prepared to join Arsenal next summer with much more game time under his belt. Whether or not Sociedad’s interest is genuine, will come to fruition over the next few days and weeks.
