According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are interested in a new left-back and Sergio Gomez is amongst the players the Gunners are keen on.

At the age of just 21, Gomez could be a star of the future, and while he’s not quite settled into senior football at the top level as of yet – being sold by both Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund already in his short career, he’s got the makings of a superstar.

Indeed, Gomez may be a left-back, but he’s so much more than just a defender.

The Spaniard provided no fewer than 15 assists last season from the left side, while he has an incredible goal scoring record for Spain’s U21s, netting six goals in nine appearances at youth level.

Speaking of youth level, Gomez originally made his name as a teenager at the U17 World Cup back in 2017.

Indeed, Gomez was the star of Spain’s run to the final. He netted four goals during the tournament, including two in the final, and he won the Silver Ball award, being beaten to the Golden Ball by Manchester City star, Phil Foden.

It’s fair to say that with the right coaching, Gomez could be one of the best attacking full-backs around, while his exploits on the wing would also make him a fantastic attacking option for the Gunners if he’s needed further forward.

Arsenal fans ought to be excited by this rumour, because Gomez is one of the most electrifying young players in Europe and if he arrived in north London, he could light up the Emirates.
