Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Djed Spence has completed his medical at Tottenham Hotspur and is now set to sign from Middlesbrough.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Spence is now going to sign a long-term contract with Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham will pay an initial transfer fee of £12.5 million for the 21-year-old, who can operate as a right-back, right wing-back and right-winger and spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough.

Exciting Spurs transfer news

In our view, Djed Spence would be a brilliant signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

Spence is only 21, and he would make Spurs better and would give head coach Antonio Conte a very good option.

The youngster can operate as a wing-back, and that would help him get chances at Tottenham next season and help him develop.

Now, of course, we know that the Premier League is at an entirely different level to the Championship, but Spence has the quality to succeed in the English top flight.

Spence made 41 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season.

The youngster scored two goals and gave four assists in those games.
