Meaning of ‘Feathered Indians’ explored

Feathered Indians pictures a passionate love story between Tyler and a partner the musician once knew.

As per Sharpens, the title of the song hints at the imprints of Tyler’s belt buckle on his lover’s thighs during a passionate embrace. The musician is known for rocking a Red Man Chewing Tobacco Belt and he previously dropped Feathered Indian belt buckles as part of official merchandise.

He sings in the track:

Well my buckle makes impressions
On the inside of her thigh
There are little feathered Indians
Where we tussled through the night

The lyrics then hint the woman has religious views and doesn’t always approve of Tyler’s habits.

The musician sings in one part: “If I’d known she was religious, then I wouldn’t have came stoned. To the house of such an angel, too f****d up to get back home.”

Tyler and his religious partner are “looking over West Virginia, smoking spirits on the roof” as he sings next: “She asked ain’t anybody told ya, that them things are bad for you.”

The third verse of the track hints that the romance between Tyler and his partner doesn’t work out and the pair have split for good.
