Where was Resident Evil filmed?

Resident Evil is primarily filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, and London, England.

The crew planned to begin filming the series in June 2020, however, the pandemic forced production to halt for the rest of the year.

Principle photography picked up again in February 2021 and filming subsequently wrapped in July of the same year.

Furthermore, four directors were on board to film two episodes each of the series, including Bronwen Hughes, Rob Seidenglanz, Batán Silva, and Rachel Goldberg.

Cape Town locations

South Africa’s capital Cape Town was visited by the cast and crew to film pivotal scenes from the series, with a number of derelict buildings visited to add to the apocalyptic aesthetic, including the Werdmuller Center and the Maitland Abattoir.

Additionally, the soundstages at Cape Town Film Studios were used to film the internal scenes of the series, and the vessels Sarah Baartman and S.A. Agulhas were also boarded for filming.

Furthermore, London, England was used as the backdrop for a number of additional scenes of the series.
