At the start of July, West Ham announced the departure of Sonny Perkins, which sparked interest from Leeds and Tottenham.
The Hammers were furious after the 18-year-old rejected their offer of a professional contract, and in a strongly worded statement, they even claimed that another side had influenced the teenager’s decision.
Now, we could be getting closer to finding out who that mystery club is.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Perkins held talks with Jesse Marsch about a move to Elland Road.
Tottenham, as aforesaid, are also monitoring the situation, but they are not believed to have entered talks with the England Under-18 international.
Now, Perkins has added fuel to the fire after he followed Leeds on Instagram.
Of course, that may not seem like a significant development, but in this day and age, a lot of footballers – especially the younger ones – tend to be heavily invested in social media, so there could be something in it.
Interestingly, Perkins is also following Leeds prospects Joe Snowdon and Mateo Joseph, as well as Darko Gyabi, who Marsch recently signed from Manchester City.
Tottenham & Leeds aren’t the only sides interested

In our view, it seems Leeds are in the driving seat to sign Perkins, although Tottenham aren’t the only side competing with them.
It has been said that Aston Villa are also in the running to sign the talented teenager, and Steven Gerrard’s side have also held talks with the West Ham contract rebel.
However, by the looks of things, Perkins is heading to Yorkshire – we can’t understand why he’d suddenly follow a number of people at Leeds, as well as the club’s official account, if he wasn’t.

Interest in the Londoner comes after he won the Young Player of the Year award at West Ham last season, scoring 14 goals in 29 appearances while also appearing in the Europa League.
Perkins also made his Premier League debut, coincidentally against Leeds in the 3-2 defeat at the London Stadium.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as his next club could soon be revealed.
