Tottenham are now reportedly open to letting Japhet Tanganga leave north London this summer, with AC Milan interested in signing the defender on loan following a rejected move from AFC Bournemouth.

According to CalcioMercato, the Rossoneri remain keen on signing Tanganga with Antonio Conte’s side now open to loaning out the England youth international for the season, with the 23-year-old likely to spend next year as a backup option at centre-back.

This summer has already seen Tottenham sign Clement Leglet on loan from FC Barcelona following by the permanent arrival of Cristian Romero, meaning regular playing time for Tanganga will be difficult with the current squad, and Milan could be a solution for the Premier League defender.

The Serie A title winners are keen to add another centre-back to their ranks, and following the immense success of Fikayo Tomori, Stefan Pioli’s side are eager to attempt another success story with Tanganga, who could flourish just like the England international has in Italy.

As per the report, Milan considers themselves strong favourites to sign Tanganga after the player and Tottenham both rejected an offer from Scott Parker’s Bournemouth, with the centre-back seemingly not open to joining a side that will likely be in a relegation battle next season.

Indeed, signing Tanganga for good will be a difficult deal for Milan based on Tottenham’s reported price tag of £21m, but with a loan offer now a feasible deal for the Rossoneri, the Serie A giants could land the Premier League talent on a short-term transfer for the year.

Tanganga could be sensational if he signs for Milan on loan

Tanganga will not be a starter for Tottenham next season, that much is obvious, and with Milan pushing hard to sign the England youngster, the defender has a golden chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and to develop his game beyond anything he will learn in north London.

After all, Tomori moved to Milan in 2020 and has since developed into one of England’s best defenders, and Tanganga could experience a similar trajectory if he moves to the San Siro and is given the platform to impress with one of Italy’s most decorated sides.
