Everton have had a £20m bid rejected by Wolves for England youth international Morgan Gibbs-White, with Frank Lampard eager to sign the 22-year-old midfielder this summer.

According to the Telegraph, the Toffees have had an opening offer shot down by their Premier League rivals for Gibbs-White, with Everton seeing the Premier League prospect as a priority signing as Lampard looks to improve Everton’s midfield options.

Gibbs-White enjoyed a breakout year at Sheffield United last season where the versatile midfielder hit double digits in both goals and assists as the Blades made it to the Championship play-offs, losing to eventual winners Nottingham Forest in a dramatic penalty shootout.

And after such a season, Gibbs-White has attracted plenty of interest from Premier League sides, with Crystal Palace and Forest all looking to sign the English-born talent as per the Telegraph, though Everton are the first club to make a concrete offer for the Wolves prospect.

Hailed as ‘wonderfully talented’ by Gary Lineker, Gibbs-White looks ready for a standout year in the English top-flight after impressing so much in the Championship, and for Everton, the youngster could be a fantastic addition if the club can agree a deal with Wolves to sign the 22-year-old.

Indeed, Gibbs-White was a star for Sheffield United last season, and with Everton looking for more goals and creativity in the midfield, the Wolves talent could be the perfect long-term solution to their problems for many years to come.

Everton should be pushing hard to sign Gibbs-White this summer

£20m is a sizeable offer to make for a player with so little Premier League experience, but Gibbs-White would be well-worth the risk given his record for the Blades last campaign and how much Wolves rate their homegrown talent, and Everton should be pushing hard to sign the midfielder this summer.

After all, Lampard need all the attacking help they can get following Richarlison’s move to Tottenham earlier in the window, and Gibbs-White offers both goals and assists to an Everton side currently devoided of both, making it extra important that the Toffees move for the 22-year-old Premier League talent.
