One Dutchman has headed for the exit door at Tottenham in Steven Bergwijn, but could another replace the new Ajax star in Memphis Depay?

The Barcelona forward is on Antonio Conte’s transfer radar this summer, with Spurs looking to further boost their forward line ahead of their return to Europe.

Depay earned a move to the Nou Camp last summer after a stellar season in the colours of Lyon, but could he be making another move?

When he was in France, Patrick Vieira was certainly a fan of the versatile forward, as he dubbed the 28-year-old a ‘terrific talent’ last summer, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Added to praising the player, Vieira also pointed out that Depay’s previous stint in the Premier League and with Manchester United was ‘too early’.

“I saw him play with Lyon and he is a terrific talent,” said Vieira. “He can make things happen – he can score or create.

“I think the experience at United was too early for him, but I think it makes him learn more about himself.”

SHOULD DEPAY RETURN TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE?

In what was a disruptive season for Barcelona, Depay scored 12 goals from his 27 La Liga games, but he failed to get off the scoresheet in the Champions League, as his side dropped into the Europa League.

From having his fellow countryman Ronald Koeman in charge to the newbie Xavi, entering the building, it was an up and down time for Depay last season, as Barcelona are further looking to boost their attack this summer.

There is strong talk of Robert Lewandowski possibly moving to the Nou Camp, as reported by Sky Sports, if that happens, then Depay’s game time might be reduced next term.

Spurs have added Richarlison to their ranks from Everton for a big fee, so it could be argued that another forward player isn’t needed.

But, one thing is for sure, the squad Conte has at his disposal goes to another level if they add Depay to their ranks this summer.
