Speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Spurs’ interest in Djed Spence.

Spurs have been linked with Spence for the longest time, and Gold has always been of the view that this deal isn’t as advanced as some reports would have you believe.

Gold maintains that this deal isn’t quite there yet, but he is now hearing that Tottenham are expressing that they’re hopeful this deal will be done.

What’s been said?

Gold spoke about Spence.

“The reporting around this has been mad, if we’re to read everything we’ve seen Spurs have been in advanced talks with him since he was two years old, its mad,” Gold said.

“I went to various parties involved in this deal and everyone would say ‘no progress’. And from everything I’m hearing it’s a difficult deal, that’s what I keep hearing about this deal. But, on the positive side, I’m hearing from all sides that they’re hopeful it will go through. Before all we were hearing was Middlesbrough expecting it to go through, but now I’m hearing more from the Tottenham side that they’re hopeful this deal will be pushed through.”

Finally

As Gold says, Spence has been linked with Spurs for months at this point, and it finally looks as though this is going to get done.

Middlesbrough have been banging that drum for quite some time, and now, Spurs are seemingly on the same page.

A fee needs to be agreed, but with everyone pulling in the same direction, that shouldn’t be too difficult.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed until a contract is signed, but it does seem more likely than not that the wing-back will arrive in north London this summer.
