The Chronicle claim Everton have ‘snubbed’ an offer from Tottenham to sign winger Anthony Gordon but Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth now directly in talks with the Toffees.
Gordon, 21, has thrown himself onto the radar of both Newcastle and Spurs after a wonderful 2021-22 campaign under Frank Lampard. While Everton struggled, Gordon enjoyed a breakthrough season.

Clocking up 40 appearances, Gordon had a hand in seven goals for the Toffees – including a crucial winner against Manchester United. Reports state that Newcastle are in talks with the £35million Tottenham target.
Now, the Chronicle confirm Ashworth is speaking directly to his counterpart Kevin Thelwell about a price for Gordon. They also report that Everton have ‘snubbed’ an offer from Tottenham for Gordon.
Everton ‘snubbed’ Tottenham offer to sign Gordon: Newcastle in talks
Firstly, it has to be said that both teams need Gordon and he certainly improves both. Newcastle need a long-term solution on the right flank – Jacob Murphy, Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron are good, but not good enough.
Tottenham are about to sell Steven Bergwijn and need a replacement. Gordon would not start for Spurs, but he would provide some much-neeed cover – and would get Champions League football.
But if Gordon has to pick between Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton – surely, he chooses to stay. Keep playing games in front of a crowd that loves you, for a club you love, under Frank Lampard. No-brainer.
