Barcelona are reportedly confident that they can sign Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva this summer, with the Catalans keen on securing the Portuguese international.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero via Twitch, the UEFA Champions League giants are once again eyeing a move for Silva nearly 12 months after the midfielder almost signed for Barcelona, with Xavi Hernandez’s side reportedly confident internally that they can this time land the Premier League champion.

According to Romero, Barcelona ‘believe’, they can sign Silva this summer for £70m, with the La Liga side eager to improve their squad ahead of next season despite the huge financial problems the Blaugrana still have, something which hasn’t stopped them from making new signings.

Franck Kessi and Andreas Christensen were both recently announced as free-agent signings, and Barcelona are still looking to bring in Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, with Silva now seemingly on the club’s agenda despite the finances involved.

Indeed, Barcelona tried to sign Silva last summer, but Pep Guardiola manager to retain the midfielder, a decision which proved to be a masterstroke as the former AS Monaco star was one of the best players in the Premier League last season, with the City boss branding the playmaker as ‘perfect’.

Despite this, rumours of a move away from Manchester persist, and according to Romero, Barcelona will push hard to sign Silva. The journalist said: “They believe they can sign Silva this summer. He’s not in the forefront of Xavi’s transfer plans, but he would like to bring him to Barcelona if the finances are there after Lewandowski.”

Silva was quite simply magical in the Premier League last season, and Guardiola’s decision to fight and keep the playmaker at the club proved to be genius, with the Portuguese star guiding the Manchester giants to their fifth Premier League title and to the Champions League semi-finals.

And this is why City must do all they can to stop Silva from joining Barcelona. After all, the midfielder is in the prime of his career, and the 27-year-old will only get better from here should he remain in England with the reigning champions.
