Juventus have made a surprise offer to sign Napoli star and rumoured Tottenham target Kalidou Koulibaly, with the Old Lady’s interest in the Senegal international accelerating this week.

According to Goal Italia, a €30m (£25m) has been made by Juventus to sign the 30-year-old centre-back, with the Italian giants willing to double Koulibaly’s wages in a major push by the Turin side to beat the likes of Tottenham to the Serie A superstar.

Koulibaly has one year remaining on his current contract with Napoli and has shown no intentions, as of late, to renew, inspiring the likes of Antonio Conte’s Tottenham to register an interest in the towering defender. However, Juventus have seemingly beaten Spurs to the punch.

After a slow start to the window which largely focused on the outgoings of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata, Juventus are now ready to explode in the market, with Angel Di Maria set to sign as a free agent along with Paul Pogba, who returns to the club five years after leaving for Manchester United.

And now, Juventus look close to signing Koulibaly from Napoli in a deal that once again change the landscape of Serie A, with Tottenham potentially fuming with themselves for not acting fast enough to sign the African defender earlier in the window.

Indeed, Juventus have not signed a top player from a direct Italian rival for some time, and signing Koulibaly could be what’s needed to push Massimiliano Allegri to bring the Serie A title back to Turin after two years of no league success.

Tottenham might be reportedly close to the signing of Clement Lenglet, but make no mistake, losing out on Koulibaly to Juventus of all clubs will sting for Conte, with the Napoli star arguably the missing piece for the north London side to create some real history next season.

After all, Conte’s goal next season with Tottenham will be to win silverware after 14 years of no trophies, and signing a player of Koulibaly’s quality would have put Spurs on the right track to end this barren run.
