RB Leipzig coach Domenico Tedesco confirms that Leeds United target Tyler Adams has ‘said goodbye’ to the Bundesliga outfit ahead of his potential £15 million move to the Premier League, speaking via Transfermarkt.

Kalvin Phillips was only unveiled as a Manchester City player on Monday morning but Leeds have wasted no time in moving on to a new flame. Whether Adams is relationship material, or merely an ill-judged rebound, remains to be seen.

But the signs certainly look good. Tenacious and technical, the flexible, ferociously hard-working Adams is a footballer tailor-made for Leeds United. What’s more, he has worked with Jesse Marsch twice before; At both New York Red Bulls and Leipzig.

According to The Athletic, Leeds are now in advanced talks with the USA international. Adams could set The Whites back around £15 million, although there is also a chance that he will arrive on loan with an option-to-buy clause included in his contract.

“He said goodbye to us and to the team yesterday,” confirms Tedesco. “So the subject has been dealt with so far.”

Tedesco’s comments explain why Adams was absent from first-team training on Tuesday morning, per Sport1. The 23-year-old struggled for game time after Marsch was replaced by the former Schalke coach. And he falls fall even further down the pecking order following Xaver Schlager’s £10 million arrival from Bundesliga rivals VFL Woflsburg.

Adams, who can also play at right-back, should form a new-look midfield partnership with Marc Roca at Leeds. Adams’ hard-running, high-pressing style could make him the perfect foil for the more cerebral, cultured Roca.

Luis Sinisterra will also arrive from Feyenoord for a further £18 million. The free-scoring forward, who hit the target 24 times last season, will sign a five-year deal at Elland Road. Sinisterra is not a like-for-like Raphinha replacement, however, given that he is more comfortable on the left-wing than the right.

Leeds have also snapped up Rasmus Kristesen and Brenden Aaronson from Leipzig’s sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
