West Ham United are ‘very unlikely’ to sign Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma with the winger’s agent potentially opening the door to Premier League rivals Newcastle United, speaking to Cadena Ser.
Despite West Ham’s apparent willingness to stump up £35 million for the former Bournemouth talisman, a potential move to the London Stadium now feels further and further away from reality.
As Fabrizio Romano pointed out last week, there is a ‘real issue’ regarding personal terms.
“West Ham have been in talks with Villarreal for weeks on 40 million euro fee,” Romano wrote on Twitter. “But (they are) still not even close to agreeing with Danjuma on personal terms or a contract.
“West Ham want Danjuma but only on their conditions. So it’s not easy. (The deal is) not off but really complicated on player side.”

And Michael Moses, the Dutch international’s representative, didn’t sound particularly positive when asked if those obstacles could be overcome.

“It is very unlikely that Danjuma will go to West Ham,” Moses says.
“(The transfer has stalled because of) issues related to personal terms, which have not gone well. (He is) completely calm. If he leaves, fine. And if he doesn’t leave, that’s fine too.
“Danjuma is focused on La Liga and the World Cup in Qatar.”
Despite scoring 16 goals in 34 games during a terrific debut campaign in Spain – including Champions League strikes against Atalanta, Bayern Munich and Juventus – opportunities appear to be drying up for Danjuma with just weeks remaining before the start of a new campaign.
Liverpool opted for a more ‘traditional’ number nine in Darwin Nunez instead.
Newcastle remain a potential destination, even if TalkSPORT believe that Eddie Howe has doubts about a player who struggled badly during his one and only Premier League campaign under the Magpies boss at Bournemouth.
Danjuma, at £35 million, will come a lot cheaper than Newcastle’s number one target; Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.
