Jamie O’Hara has labelled Mo Salah’s ‘£350k-a-week wages’ at Liverpool as ‘crazy’, but he made it clear given what he has done for the club he is ‘worth every penny’.

The former Premier League midfielder added that Salah is ‘everything’ to the Reds and this recent deal is a ‘massive’ for everyone assscoited with the club, as he told Sky Sports News.

On Friday, Liverpool surprised their fans by announcing that Salah has committed his stay on Merseyside until 2025, with his previous deal set to run out next summer.

With Sadio Mane already out of the door and in Bayern Munich colours, those at Anfield simply couldn’t allow to lose another star name.

Nonetheless, ahead of the new Premier League season, this Salah deal is the best business they could do, as O’Hara shared that it’s something that was very much needed.

“That’s a massive deal for Liverpool,” said O’Hara. “There had been a lot of talk about him potentially leaving on a free at the end of next season. And he is one of the best players in the world.

“They lost Mane, who is a massive player. They didn’t quite get it over the line, for whatever reason. I think it was down to money and being valued. They couldn’t let that happen to Mohmed Salah. They need him at the football club.

“He is everything the club are about and he has been an incredible servant to the club. That kind of settles it now. The fans can rest knowing that their best player is staying at the club for the next three years.

“It’s the world we live in (on Salah’s £350k-a-week wages). It’s astronomical wages. When I was playing in the Premier League, the top wage was £100k-a-week. Now we are talking £350k-a-week.

“That’s where the game has gone. At the end of the day, if you are one of the best players in the world, there are some players on £600k-a-week at Real Madrid. So, you have to be valued as a player and that’s where the game has gone. It’s a crazy amount of money, we know that. But for what he has done for Liverpool, he is worth every penny.”

LIVERPOOL’S NEW FRONT THREE

That front three that served Liverpool so well – Mane, Roberto Firmino and Salah – is no more and now it’s time for new faces to write history.

Those players ended the club’s long-wait to become champions of England once more, as well as winning the Champions League trophy.

Now Jurgen Klopp will be hoping, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez will write their name into Liverpool’s history books, with Salah the main man leading them onto their next road.

The £34 million star (BBC Sport) won the Golden Boot last season, alongside Heung-Min Son, and he will be hoping to be top of the tree once again ahead of the new campaign.
