Speaking on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has been discussing Spurs’ interest in Djed Spence.
The Middlesbrough wing-back has been linked with Tottenham for the longest time now, and while a deal isn’t done, everything seems to be, slowly but surely, moving in the right direction here.
According to this reporter, not only does the player want to join Spurs, but Middlesbrough’s manager, Chris Wilder, is pushing for this deal to be done quickly as Boro need the money to fund their Championship promotion push.
What’s been said?
Bridge spoke about Spence.
“Everyone is kind of saying different things, but I will say two things. One, Djed Spence only wants to come to Tottenham Hotspur. Secondly, Chris Wilder and Middlesbrough want to get this deal done. Chris Wilder wants to win the Championship, he knows he doesn’t have Spence in his squad next season, the Championship kicks off in a month’s time, they want this money in. My understanding is that they are pushing this deal as much as possible,” Bridge said.

One hurdle
Everything seems to be in place for Tottenham to sign Spence.
The wing-back wants to join Tottenham, Spurs want the player, and Boro want to sell him.
There’s one final hurdle to clear and that’s to agree a fee, but so far, Spurs haven’t paid what the Teesside club have been looking for.
Luckily, Tottenham are flush with cash, and it may not be too long before they finally cave in and cough up the cash needed to bring Spence to north London.
Don’t be shocked if the England U21 international ends up being Spurs’ fifth summer signing.
