Joan Laporta has said that Leeds United winger Raphinha wants to join Barcelona, not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has relayed quotes from Barcelona president Laporta that the winger, linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, wants to move to Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

Laporta has added that there are other clubs who are interested in the Brazil international, and that is what making a deal for the winger – described as “incredible” by former Leeds player Stephen Warnock on the Football Show on Sky Sports in May 2022 -complicated.

90min have reported that Chelsea have agreed a £60 million deal with Leeds over the transfer of Raphinha, while The Times have claimed that Arsenal had a bid of £35 million for the former Rennes star turned down.

Arsenal and Chelsea to miss out?

In our view, Arsenal and Chelsea are likely to miss out on the signing of Leeds United winger Raphinha to Barcelona.

If Barcelona are willing to pay what Leeds want for the winger and the Brazilian himself wants to join the La Liga club, then we do not see how Arsenal or Chelsea could change that.
