Frank Lampard’s Everton are now reportedly interested in signing Jesse Lingard after Newcastle United backed away due to his high wage demands.

Everton want Newcastle United-linked Jesse Lingard

The Athletic have reported that Everton are interested in signing Lingard on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Manchester United.

The Toffees have reportedly made contact with the England international attacking midfielder’s representatives in regard to a move.

West Ham United are also keen on signing the 29-year-old England international, who can operate as a winger as well, according to the report.

Newcastle have been linked with Lingard as well.

The Chronicle reported on June 21 that Newcastle have been looking into the possible signing of the Englishman in the summer transfer window.

However, Lingard wants £200,000 per week as salary, and Newcastle are not willing to pay that much, according to the report.

Good signing for the Toffees?

In our opinion, Jesse Lingard would be a good signing for Everton on a free transfer, but the Toffees should be wary of paying him £200,000 per week.

Lingard did well during his loan spell at West Ham in the second half of 2020-21 season.

The 29-year-old played regularly for David Moyes’s side, and scored nine goals and gave four assists in 16 Premier League matches.

So, we know what Lingard is capable of doing when he gets a run of games.
