Tottenham, Leeds and Newcastle are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing PSV Eindhoven wonderkid Noni Madueke this summer – a player once compared to Manchester City superstar Phil Foden, by Aidy Boothroyd.

Madueke, 20, joined PSV in 2018 aged just 16 and in his four years in the Netherlands, he has become a regular for the Eredivisie giants. He has clocked up 70 senior appearances, having a hand in 32 goals.

Last season, Madudke produced nine goals and six assists in 34 with a muscle problem limiting him to just two games between September and February. His state are even more impressive, given he did not complete 90 minutes once.

Now, a return to the Premier League is on the cards for the London-born ace. 90Min say Tottenham want him back, while other reports say Leeds, Newcastle and Arsenal have taken a look. He was compared to Foden in 2021.

“Certainly, a very talented young man. A bit like Phil [Foden] last time, nobody heard of him until he came and played in the tournament,” Boothroyd said, in the Mail. “A lovely infectious character that comes out even over the phone.”

Madueke would be a brilliant signing for most Premier League clubs, but he needs to join a club where his game time can continue to be regular. At PSV, he could have easily clocked up 50 games had he remained fit.

He will want to join a side where he playing at least 30 times a season and starting them regularly. At Arsenal or Tottenham, that is unlikely. Newcastle need a winger, and Everton could sell Richarlison and Anthony Gordon.

But surely, with Raphinha leaving Leeds, a move to Elland Road is best for Madueke. Not least, because the Yorkshire club are more than willing to place their faith in younger players. Leeds would be his best move.
