According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Newcastle are interested in bringing Joshua Zirkzee to the Premier League, after he rejected Everton.
What’s the story?
Well, the Toffees tried to sign the Dutchman in 2021, and even submitted a £9m bid.
Zirkzee also admitted that he “could’ve gone to Everton” years ago before joining Bayern Munich.
“I could have gone to Everton. They pushed hard but breaking through (into the first-team) in England is difficult.”
Eventually, the 21-year-old joined Parma on loan, before moving to Anderlecht on a temporary basis where he impressively scored 18 goals last season.
Now, having returned to Bayern Munich – his parent club – Newcastle are interested in signing him, while Ajax are also monitoring the situation.

The Belgian news outlet add that Anderlecht are also hoping to bring Zirkzee back for another stint in the Jupiler Pro League, although Bayern Munich have placed a £10m price tag on his head.
In our view, the youngster is unlikely to receive much first-team action under Julian Nagelsmann next season, following the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool.
Everton should rival Newcastle
If Newcastle really are interested in Zirkzee, we think Everton should get involved in the race for his signature.
The Netherlands Under-21 international is a real talent, one who has been likened to Robert Lewandowski, a man with 509 career goals to his name.
Zirkzee has found life difficult at Bayern Munich, and in truth, more loan moves are unlikely to benefit him.

He needs a permanent home, and given the fact they have a long-standing interest in the Champions League winner, Everton should definitely get involved if Newcastle lodge a concrete offer.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as those at Goodison Park are clearly fans of Zirkzee, although the financial power of Newcastle may be an issue.
