Rangers have moved one big step closer to luring Antonio Colak to Ibrox with Sky Sports claiming that a transfer fee and personal terms have been agreed for the PAOK Thessaloniki striker.
This is not the first time Rangers have gone all-in for a player who impressed against the Glasgow giants in European action.
Steven Gerrard snapped up Borna Barisic after the rampaging left-back caused the Gers’ backline no end of problems during a Europa League qualifier against NK Osijek four years ago. And, 10 months after plunging a dagger into the heart of Rangers’ Champions League hopes, Colak looks set to join his fellow Croatia international at Ibrox.
According to Sky, Rangers have agreed a fee of £1.8 million. It is not certain whether that is the full fee. Or, instead, the sum that will be paid up front, with bonuses to come into effect later on. Other publications have indicated that PAOK want closer to the £2.5 million they paid Rijeka two years ago.
Sky add that Colak has also agreed personal terms.
Rangers close in on PAOK striker Antonio Colak

The 28-year-old centre-forward obviously left a lasting impression on the Scottish Premiership runners-up. It was his devastating double that fired ten-man Malmo into the Champions League group stages at Rangers’ expense back in August 2021 after all. But it seems that Rangers left a lasting impression on Colak too.
According to the Scottish Sun, the PAOK-owned centre-forward – who scored 22 goals on loan at Malmo and has been tipped to become a ‘huge success’ in Scotland – was blown away by the famously vociferous Ibrox atmosphere.
So much so that he will reportedly snub four other clubs in favour of putting pen to paper with a side now under the stewardship of Giovanni van Bronckhorst; A coach with an excellent track record when it comes to getting the best out of powerful centre-forwards like Colak.
It is not certain whether the former Rijeka and Hoffenheim man will arrive as a replacement for Alfredo Morelos. Or, perhaps, someone capable of competing with the firebrand Colombian for a place in Van Bronckhorst’s XI.
Morelos has just one year left on his contract.
