Spanish outlet Deportes Cope claim Liverpool have tabled an offer to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid – but they are not alone, with AC Milan also making a bid for the Spain international.
Asensio, 26, has been a revelation for Madrid. Joining the club in 2015 from Mallorca, he has since clocked up 249 appearances for The Galacticos – having a hand in 73 goals. Asensio has scored 49 goals, and laid on 24 assists.

Last season, Asensio was a bit-part player. Playing 42 times, he only started 23 of those – completing 90 minutes just three times. He is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract and a new deal seems unlikely.
Real Madrid, then, will need to sell Asensio this summer if they want any cash for the midfielder. Deportes Cope say Liverpool and Milan have made offers for the £117,000-a-week ace (Salary Sport).
Liverpool have tabled Asensio offer, but so have Milan
Liverpool do need an attacking midfielder. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could both leave this summer – with their contracts expiring in 2023. Curtis Jones is yet to turn potential into real quality.
Injuries have hampered the England Under-21 man. If the Reds lacked anything last season, it was goals from midfield and Asensio would provide that. He would also give Jurgen Klopp an option in the final third, out wide.
However, Fabrizio Romano states a move for Asensio is one that is likely to go into the depths of August. So, it is whether Liverpool are willing to wait until then to get their man – or go after a different player.
