Leeds could miss out on Flynn Downes after Crystal Palace, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers all asked about the Swansea City ace.

The Whites look set to lose Kalvin Phillips this summer with Manchester City making their move.

Marc Roca has arrived from Bayern Munich but the Leeds would need another midfield addition if Phillips leaves.

RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams is one name in the mix but Swansea ace Downes has also been suggested as a target in recent times.

Leeds could miss out on Flynn Downes

The Times reported in March that Leeds had picked out Downes as a top target should Phillips leave the club.

Downes joined Swansea for £1.5million last summer and was branded ‘incredible’ by Swans manager Russell Martin.

Downes, 23, played a starring role for Swansea this past season and Leeds had been seen as his most likely destination.

That may now be changing though as three Premier League rivals have made their move for Downes.

Wales Online report that Leeds haven’t made any contact with Swansea and now risk missing out on signing Downes this summer.

Crystal Palace, Southampton and Wolves are all understood to have made contact with Swansea over potential deals for the midfielder.

Swansea ideally don’t want to sell Downes but know that they may need to sell one of Downes or striker Joel Piroe this summer.

Downes is valued at up to £12million as Swansea seek to make a huge profit on the fee they paid Ipswich Town in 2021.

That would be a hefty price for Downes but Leeds will certainly have cash to spend if Phillips does join City.

We would imagine that Adams is higher on Leeds’ wish list under Jesse Marsch, given that they worked together at New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig.

With Leeds looking towards the American and other clubs making enquiries for Downes, it may be that Leeds are backing away from his potential pursuit.
