Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal and their pursuit of Lisandro Martinez.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Argentine in recent weeks, and now, according to some reports, a second bid for the Ajax star is being prepared.
Romano hasn’t heard of a second bid going in yet, but he’s absolutely certain that he’s a player Arsenal are keen on.
Indeed, the journalist stated that Arsenal are huge fans of the defender, and, due to his versatility, they think he could be a perfect signing.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about Martinez.
“Yes, I am still waiting for confirmation of a new bid, Arsenal want to make a new bid, he’s a player they want, this is something they have been working on for a long time, and he is a priority for Arsenal on the market, especially after Gabriel Jesus. Negotiations are ongoing and Manchester United have also had contacts with the player. Arsenal are really pushing for Lisandro, he’s a player they consider perfect, he can play as a centre-back, he can play as a number six, he’s a player that can be very interesting for Mikel Arteta’s ideas,” Romano said.

Perfect
Arsenal consider Martinez to be a perfect signing, and in a lot of ways, he would be.
The Argentine is an incredibly versatile player, but more importantly than that, he’s very talented.
He’d be a brilliant starting option at centre-back, while he’d also provide great cover in the midfield and at left-back if need be.
Arsenal’s season was affected by injuries last year, but a player like Martinez would immediately alleviate some of the problems caused by any potential fitness crisis at the back or in the middle of the park.
This could be a great signing for the Gunners.
