Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Newcastle will complete the signing of the Dutch defender today.
The Daily Mail (print edition, page 63, June 27, 2022) have claimed that Botman will fly into Newcastle today to seal a £31 million move from Lille.

In our view, Lille central defender Sven Botman moving to Newcastle United in the summer transfer window is very exciting for the Magpies, not just for next season but for years to come as well.
Botman is a very good and promising young player who helped Lille win the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21.
The youngster is claimed to be even better than Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk.
Now, of course, Botman is only 22, so he is bound to make a few mistakes from time to time and is still developing and improving.
However, we think that Newcastle are about to make a very smart signing in Botman.
