Rangers star Joe Aribo could leave Ibrox this summer with mounting Premier League interest in him as Nottingham Forest join the race.

The Gers will be anticipating interest in a host of key players after reaching the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Defender Calvin Bassey certainly took full advantage of the big stage with an outstanding performance in the final.

Others like Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara will have their admirers, but Rangers will face a fight to keep hold of midfielder Aribo.

The Daily Record report that Nottingham Forest now fancy signing Aribo and are rivalling Crystal Palace in the race for his signature.

Aribo, 25, notched nine goals and 10 assists in a superb campaign last season, becoming a real driving force through the Rangers midfield.

Signed from Charlton Athletic in 2019, Aribo now has just one year left on his Rangers contract.

There may be a temptation for Aribo to try Premier League football with Forest and Palace now keen.

The Nigerian international is a tall and rangy attacking midfielder but he also featured as a makeshift striker last season.

That could appeal to Steve Cooper at Forest, who utilised Philip Zinckernagel and Brennan Johnson in fluid roles last term.

Forest’s primary attacking midfield target appears to be Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Morgan Gibbs-White.

Yet if a deal for Gibbs-White can’t be done, Forest could turn their attention towards Aribo in what would almost certainly be a cheaper deal.

This is far from ideal for Rangers, who know that they may need to sell now rather than see Aribo leave for free in 2023.

Branded ‘priceless’ by Barry Ferguson, Aribo has become one of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s key men but the chance to play in the Premier League could be too big to turn down if Forest do come calling.
