Arsenal are back in for Lisandro Martinez and have now increased their offer for the defender to around €40million.

The Gunners look set to sign attacker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in an exciting move.

Matt Turner has arrived today, joining Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira in signing for Arsenal this summer.

Jesus would certainly elevate Arsenal’s window but there could still be another move to come with Martinez wanted.

Arsenal are seeking a versatile defender who can cover at left-sided centre back and left back.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Kieran Tierney at the first-choice players in those roles, but backups like Pablo Marti and Nuno Tavares could go.

Signing one player to cover both areas would be ideal and Arsenal have settled on Martinez as their prime target.

The Athletic reported earlier this month that Arsenal had offered around €30million (£26million) for Martinez.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf now claim that Arsenal have come back in with a new bid for Martinez.

This time the offer is a huge €40million (£34million) in the hope of convincing Ajax to sell.

Ajax don’t want to sell Martinez though and this still may not be enough for Arsenal to land their man.

Martinez, 24, won Ajax’s Player of the Year award in their title-winning season and is now a wanted man.

90Min report that Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing Martinez, hence Arsenal’s desire to get a deal done quickly.

Whilst small for a centre back for around 5ft 9in tall, Martinez is quick and confident on the ball, whilst his positional versatility is hugely appealing.

Jesus and then maybe Raphinha will be the focus for Arsenal, but Martinez could cap off an exceptional transfer window for Arsenal well in time for the start of the season.
