Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says Fabio Paratici has met with Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto in Milan to discuss a loan move for Joe Rodon. It would see Jose Mourinho sign the Welshman for a second time.

Rodon, 24, was signed during Mourinho’s reign at Tottenham in 2020 from Swansea – but in two seasons, he has managed just 24 appearances for Spurs. Last season, he was afforded just 10 games.

That is, despite Antonio Conte using a back three. His form in a Wales shirt, though, has been incredible and “dominant”. The centre-back has been a crucial part of Rob Page’s side, the one that qualified for the World Cup.

Paratici has travelled to Milan in order to thrash out some loan exits from Tottenham – with Bryan Gil also on the agenda. In what would be a surprise move, Roma have met with Paratici to discuss a loan for Rodon.

Di Marzio: Roma discuss Rodon loan

What a move for Rodon it would be. Roma are known for looking at the Premier League for recruitment, bringing in the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Nemanja Matic and Tammy Abraham during Mourinho’s era.

Rodon desperately needs to join a side where he is first choice, as he looks to prepare for the World Cup with Wales in Qatar. He will want to be at the top of his game going into the tournament in the Middle East.

As long as he is given assurances to start for Roma, Rodon should be desperate to join the Italian side. A huge club, in the Europa League, under the manager that signed him. An absolute no-brainer.
