Report claims Newcastle star’s head has been turned, Paratici really wants him at Tottenham

Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin could leave the club this summer amid claims that his head has been turned.

That’s a very Love Island kind of phrase but maybe the transfer market can borrow a phrase from ITV’s hit summer show.

Newcastle are mostly focusing on incomings at the moment but some players will of course be leaving St James’ Park.

Fringe players like Ciaran Clark, Jeff Hendrick and Dwight Gayle could move on but Saint-Maximin would be a much higher-profile departure.

The Daily Mail claim that Saint-Maximin has had his head turned by wages on offer at other clubs.

It’s suggested that Saint-Maximin’s availability has been sounded out and the winger is now interested in heading elsewhere.

Newcastle want £40million but Saint-Maximin is growing frustrated with life at St James’ Park and the club’s wage structure.

Saint-Maximin usually loves calling out rumours about him and it wouldn’t exactly surprise us if he takes to Twitter to respond to the claims.

If true though, where could Saint-Maximin end up going?

Two clubs are mentioned in the report with Chelsea and Tottenham both thought to be keen on Saint-Maximin.

Tottenham are a particularly interesting proposition as they seek to bring in a new attacking player this summer.

Steven Bergwijn is on his way out and adding another forward player seems to be a priority for Fabio Paratici.

Football London’s Alasdair Gold reported earlier this month that Paratici is a huge fan of Saint-Maximin and would like to bring him to Tottenham.

Tottenham have been linked with other attackers like Richarlison, Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus; you can certainly suggest that the Brazilian trio have better end product than Saint-Maximin.

That’s certainly something for Tottenham to consider as they prepare for the Champions League.

Saint-Maximin would surely love to play in the Champions League but whether Tottenham want to splash £40million on him remains to be seen.
