MCU’s Phase Four has arguably been somewhat rockier than previous phases in the franchise.

Efforts like Eternals have proven incredibly divisive and the arrival of Disney+ has encouraged some audiences not to check out every MCU blockbuster straight away in theaters.

Opting to wait a few months instead, some are now finally beginning to check out Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on the platform. Inevitably, plenty of questions that viewers had back in May are re-emerging.

Additionally, many are embarking upon multiple viewings. So, there’s no better time to address some of the most pressing inquiries.

Namely, is America Chavez Ms Marvel?

Is America Chavez Ms Marvel?

No, America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not Ms Marvel. The titular character Ms Marvel, is a totally separate character.

Ms Marvel is actually a teenage girl named Kamala Khan played by Iman Vellani in the recent Disney+ series, whereas America is portrayed by Xochitl Gomez. Although, America Chavez was introduced into the MCU before Ms Marvel.

Both characters are separate entities and preexisting comic book creations too.

Focusing on America in the MCU, she has the ability to travel between dimensions by opening up portals. Hailing from the Utopian Parallel universe, Doctor Strange finds her and helps protect her while the Scarlet Witch is intent on stealing her powers for personal gain.

On the other hand, Ms Marvel – or Kamala Khan, rather – is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American high school student who admires the likes of Captain Marvel, who, of course, exists in her universe.

The new series serves as her origin story and we learn that she possesses the ability to harness cosmic energy from a magic bangle.

‘She said to never hesitate to give Marvel an idea’

Now that America is in the MCU, Screenrant asked the actress playing her what the best advice she received from a fellow cast member was:

“Elizabeth Olsen,” she replied, naming the co-star who gave the advice. “She gave me fantastic advice. She said to never hesitate to give Marvel an idea, or to just pitch in about your character. And that Marvel really means that when they want your advice, or any notes or anything.”

She continued: “I was like, ‘Okay…’ And I did it! I took the advice, and it was really rewarding to actually see some of the notes I’ve given actually happen. Then we would do it in a scene, and it’s like, ‘Wow,’ especially at my age. It was just, ‘Wow.’”
